Onion Island - Risograph Illustration, 2025 - Isle of Riso

Submission to an open call titled ‘Islands’ by risograph studio Isle of Riso. This onion character first entered my work as a doodle scrawled on a clipboard whilst I was working in a supermarket warehouse, I liked how it looked, so it’s cropped up in my drawings from time to time ever since. I imagined a world of these onion characters inhabiting islands, toiling away to satisfy one big demigod onion in the centre of the image. Being that we were limited in our choice of riso colours, it was a fun challenge to stack colours on top of each other to create the desired combinations, just a really fun piece overall.
